Our speaker this Friday will be Chelan David, Author of Stories From The Phog, Forty Years of Kansas Basketball.
A native of Lawrence, Kansas, Chelan David has a unique bond with Kansas basketball. Some of his earliest memories emanate from fabled Allen Fieldhouse, a limestone theater filled with tradition, pageantry, and ghosts of former Jayhawk greats.
Stories from the Phog guides readers on a 40-year journey through the eyes of a hoops junkie while tracing the roots of the historic program. Relive the program’s most memorable moments with anecdotes from all four living coaches and descendants of James Nalismith and Phog Allen. Experience the magic of Allen Fieldhouse through the eyes of players, famed announcers, and one of its original architects.

Desserts - Each member is required to supply AT LEAST 2 desserts for the dessert table - Pie, Cake, Cupcakes, Cookies, Brownies, etc. Gluten-Free items are also needed such as Rice Krispie Treats. See Amy Ruo if you have questions

I was an elementary teacher for 40 years. I taught special education, was a school counselor for a couple years, and taught 3rd through 6th grades. I spend most of my years as a 4th grade teacher at Broken Arrow in Shawnee
What is your favorite sports team and why?
My favorite team is the Chiefs. I enjoy going to the games and watching them on T.V. with my two grown sons. In the past, they always made the game exciting. I also love Patrick Mahomes because of his talents and character
What is your favorite vacation destination, and why?
My favorite destination is anywhere there is a beach or an ocean. Every year, my husband and I go to a different location in Florida
What is your ideal sandwich?
My ideal sandwich is a turkey club with cheese, bacon, and whole wheat bread
If you are at a trivia night, what category would you know most about?
Probably American history. I love to read historical fiction novels based on events in U.S history
