Our speaker this Friday will be Jessica Bennett, Director of Outreach, Behavior Analyst with Autism from the Start.
At Autism From The Start®, their highly trained, licensed and registered professionals provide one-to-one therapy that addresses the whole child and includes individually-focused learning, group activities, and kindergarten readiness opportunities 7 hours per day, Monday through Friday, all year long.
For those of you new to the club, every year we work with HopeBuilders to build a wheelchair ramp to enable a handicapped person to stay in their home. We will team up with Shawnee Rotary and the Shawnee Mission Northwest Interact on this project.
This requires no special skills or tools on your part. No experience needed. We work from 8:30 until completion. You are welcome to come if you can only work part of the day. Your spouses, children and grandchildren are welcome to participate- no experience necessary! They must be at least 16 years of age. Lenexa Rotary Foundation contributes $1000 towards the cost of materials for the project.
November is Rotary International Foundation Month. You can make a difference in this world by helping others in need - from supplying a vaccine to protect a child from polio to training peacebuilders in conflict resolution to help build a more peaceful future. With your help, The Rotary Foundation can make lives better in your community and around the world. To donate CLICK HERE
As of today, Lenexa Rotary members have donated $3,735 to the Annual Fund and $2,300+ to PolioPlus.
As you may know, fellow Lenexa Rotarian Milton Jeffery is from Jamaica and still has family there who fortunately survived the Hurricane Melissa. In alignment with our past efforts to support hurricane-affected communities, the Lenexa Rotary Foundation has approved a Pass-Through Grant to raise funds for Heart to Heart International. These funds will specifically help them provide essential hygiene kits in Jamaica.
For reference, last year's project raised approximately $1,400 to support relief following the hurricane that struck Asheville, North Carolina.
If you would like to donate, please make your check payable to the Lenexa Rotary Foundation. You can give your donation directly to Phil Hammond, Alan Kruckemyer, or Amy Ruo.
We look forward to participating in another hands-on hygiene kit building project next year.
Mark your calendar for ShrimpFest 2026 - it will be here before you know it! This is Lenexa Rotary's BIGGEST fundraiser of the year and we need ALL MEMBERS to be involved.
Kevin will be reaching out to committee chairs from last year to see if you are still interested in being the committee chair in 2026.
