Our speaker this Friday will be Melanie Arroyo. Melanie was elected to serve as a Ward 3 council member in November 2021, making her the first Latina to join the Lenexa City Council.
Melanie is a graduate of Shawnee Mission Schools and graduated from the University of Saint Mary in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Studio Art and Psychology. She continued her education at Emporia State University where she graduated with a master’s degree in Clinical Counseling and a master’s degree in Art Therapy.
Currently, Melanie works as a clinical counselor and art therapist, and is the owner of her private practice. She has experience working with children and adults from a range of cultural backgrounds, disabilities and diverse identities.
As a mental health professional trained in trauma informed care and cultural humility, Melanie brings a unique perspective and listening ear to City Council and to the residents of Ward 3.

What to do with the beer?

Rinse out and dry the beer can
Fill the can with coins, dollar bills or a check (made payable to the Lenexa Rotary Foundation)
Write you name on the can
Return to Fred Spears and he will give you another beer
In 2017, Rotary International took on the call to End Human Trafficking. You are invited to earn your Human Trafficking Awareness badge from Justice U. In one hour, you will learn what human trafficking is, how to see it, and how to report it. And if you want to earn your full digital certification by taking all three courses offered in the Learn How to End Human Trafficking series on Justice U, you can use the code ROTARYSWARM to gain free access to these courses + even more resources from Engage Together, our partners in this effort. Given the success of the Community Peace Pole Art Project and auction to raise money for Project 1020, what future community/Rotary partnership projects would you like to see undertaken with partnership of Lenexa and Western JOCO Rotary Clubs?
We are collecting egg cartons to be given to a local food pantry. They only need the 12 egg cartons, not 18.
If you have some to donate, please contact Steve Nettles. You can drop them off at his house, bring them to a meeting, or drop them off at Rimann Liquors at 87th & Lackman.
